District Representative at IEP Meetings
Every IEP meeting must have a District Representative. SVSD District Representatives include building administrator, school counselors, school psychologists, District TOSA, and the Director of Student Services
The District Representative must be able to speak to the continuum of programs the district has to offer in the area of general and special education and be able to commit additional resources.
Connect with the Director of Student Service prior to the IEP Meeting if you think additional resources will be requested at an IEP meeting – available resources can be made available at the scheduled IEP meeting.
The signature of a District Representative indicates that the IEP is complete, accurate and meets the IEP Compliance Requirements
(a) To ensure the proper members of the IEP team are present:
- special education case manager (special education teacher or therapist),
- general education teacher of the student,
- therapist/counselor if student receives therapy or counseling,
- parent (unless parent has agreed to have a meeting without being present)
(b) To ensure that the case manager obtains written consent from the parent to excuse an IEP team member from the meeting
(c) Check that dates are accurate.
(d) Obtain signatures of members present at the meeting – signature on an IEP indicates participation
- Parent consent (signature) on an initial IEP
(e) A copy of the Procedural Safeguards are offered to the parents
(f) Please collaborate with your IEP case managers to decide on who the District Representatives will be at IEP meetings.
